Vaghul, Chairman of ICICI Bank and the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) helped launch J-PAL South Asia at IFMR on July 13, 2007 in Chennai, India. Africa Program for Education Impact Evaluation

In June, the Africa region of the World Bank launched its Africa Program for Education Impact Evaluation (APEIE) in Abuja, Nigeria with the objective of improving the ability of countries in the region to meet the Millennium Development Goals in education. Pratham, a long-time partner of J-PAL, is a grass roots movement which aims to see “every child in school…and learning well”. Started originally in 1994-95 in Mumbai, Pratham now works in twenty states, reaching an estimated 500,000 children daily through its urban programs and over five million children in its rural programs in partnership with state governments.
